Fixtures and Results week-ending 20th September

With the season drawing to a close, just two teams played at the weekend. The 1st XI took sweet revenge at home against North East Cheshire. Electing to bat, the visitors were bowed out for 46 in 23.3 over. Rob Jones taking 5-7, and Zohaib 4-11/ Trinity lost 3 wickets in the chase, but completed in an emphatic win in the 14th over, Peter Langton top scoring with 19 not out.

The 2nd XI struggled against a strong Haslington side. Electing to bat, Trinity made 142 for 5 off the 40 overs. Wayne Bradick top scoring with 39. Haslington’s strong openers took on the under-par Trinity bowling, both reaching half centuries, before having the stumps uprooted by young quick, Jamie Herbert. The damage was done, though, and Haslington finished off winning by 8 wickets in the 28th over.

Fixtures and Results week-ending 13th September

Saturday saw a continuation of fine form for the 1st XI. Electing to field, Trinity held Heaton Mersey to 128/4 off the 40 overs. With tight bowling from Zohaib Khan, Adam Hugill and Zaheer Khan. In reply, Trinity chased down the total in 34 overs. Skipper James Shaw top scoring with a destructive 50no.

Records tumbled at home, as the 2nd XI destroyed Woodford’s in a clinical display of power and skill. Lucas Newton’s thunderous 77 set the tone, including 13 fours and 2 sixes. This was following by a fine lower middle order innings from Tom Quinn. His 70 runs including 11 fours. Trinity ended the 40 overs with 261/6. Woodford’s batting response will likely leave permanent scars. The Royle family took centre stage, as Emma and Matthew bowled out Woodford for a pitiful 22 in just 13 overs. Emma recording career best 2nd XI figures of 7-5-13-7, as well as a run out. Matthew’s figures of 6-2-8-2 proved his ability to offer more than adequate support to his sister!

On Sunday the Women’s XI continued the winning. This time taking out old rivals Didsbury. Electing to field, Trinity put Didsbury to the sword, bowling them out for 59 in the 30th over. Trinity’s response was emphatic, opening batters Ellie Mason (41no) and Jenny Dunn (13no) running down the total in just 14 overs.

The 3rd XI rounded off a superb Trinity weekend, beating Halsington by 35 runs. Choosing to bat first, Trinity scored 134 all out in the 39th over. Haslington couldn’t manage a consistent chase, as skipper Iain Haughey ran through the opposition batsmen like a hot knife through butter. Taking 7 wickets for 40 as Haslington were bowled out for 99.

Fixtures and Results week-ending 6th September

On Saturday, the 1st XI returned to winning ways with a 7 wicket win against Lymm Oughtrington Park. Fielding first, Lymm were bowled out for just 59 in 33 overs. With wickets shared throughout the bowling attack. Trinity chased down the total in 19 overs, with just three wickets down. Akhil Shah top scoring with 32.

The Second XI didn’t fair so well. Chasing a competitive 131, Trinity suffering a mid-order collapse, ending 96 all out in the 38th over.

The Ladies managed a strong win against Georgians, on Sunday. Put into bat, Ellie Mason led from the top of the order, with 47 runs out of a total of 87/7 off 22 overs. Georgians were unable to match the required run rate, running themselves out in the process, and managing only 80/6 off the 22.

The 3rd XI also managed a strong win against Macclesfield. Trinity scored 136/5 off the 40 overs, which was too much for Macclesfield. Trinity’s potent bowling mix of youth and experience was too much for the big club to handle, as Macclesfield were dispatched for 117.

Fixtures and Results week-ending 30th August

Saturday saw an inauspicious game for the 1st XI against North East Cheshire. Under cloudy skies, Trinity were bowled out for 43. NE Cheshire lost 4 wickets as they reached the total in the 16th over.

The 2nd XI had a more successful day. In a rain affected match, Trinity held Nantwich to 140-6 off the 40 overs. Zaman with 3 wickets. Trinity ran down a rain revised total of 97 in the 14th over for the loss of no wickets. Zaman ending up PotM with 65no off just 44 balls, ably supported by Rixon with 32no.

On Sunday, the Women’s XI bowled well to keep Didsbury CC down to 86-9 off the 30 overs. In a tight run chase, Trinity fell just short, ending up 83-7 off the 30.

The 3rd XI also suffered a disappointing weekend, losing to Mobberly by 5 wickets.

Fixtures and Results week-ending 23rd August

Trinity 1st XI and 2nd XI registered strong wins on Saturday. At home to Hawk Green, the 1st XI bowled out the visitors for 168. Zohaib Khan taking 5-43. Runs were shared as Trinity chased down the total for the loss of 7 wickets and another 25points.

The 2nd XI scored an impressive victory to seal a 50 point day, in the gathering gloom at Macclesfield. Asked to bat first, Zaman held a shaky innings together, scoring 71 in a total of 146 all out. During a nail-biting chase, Emma Royle shone, collecting her second 2s 5-fer and moving to top of the league’s bowling chart as Macc were bowled out for 126.

On Sunday, the Ladies XI continued the winning 20/20 streak, beating Ashton-on-Mersey by 9 wickets in 16 overs.

The 3rd XI were not so lucky. Scoring 79/7 off their 20 overs, Trinity struggled against a strong Brooklands side. Brooklands ran out winners in the 13th over by 8 wickets.

Fixtures and Results week-ending 16th August

Wins all round as Trinity record an excellent weekend of results.

Away at Langley, on Saturday, the 1st XI scored 199/7dec off 38 overs. Including a sparkling 82 off 70 ball from Zohaib Kahn. Trinity then proceeded to bowl out Langley for just 58. Rob Jones with 4 wickets and Zaheer Khan bamboozling a languid Langley with his left-arm spin, and taking 5 wickets for only 5 runs, to complete a comprehensive victory.

At home, the 2nd XI also delivered something of a thrashing to Warrington CC. The visitors were bowled out for 76. Mike Stopford’s return to form after injury providing the pick of the bowling with figures of 12-4-34-5. Trinity chased down the total with the loss of one wicket, Andy Fryer scoring 59no in just 16.3 overs.

On Sunday, the Ladies XI won by 6 wickets against Leigh. Emma Royle leading the attack with 3 wickets for just 4 runs off 6 overs. Leigh managed 84 runs off their 30 overs. Trinity chased the total down for the loss of 4 wickets. Jenny Dunn top scoring with 36no.

The 3rd XI completed the weekend of wins, defeating Didsbury by 3 wickets. Put into bat, Trinity scored 182 off the 40 overs. Tom Quinn top scoring with 51, ably supported by skipper Darren Shaw with 37. Didsbury couldn’t chase the total and were bowled out for 171. Young express bowler Jamie Herbert the pick of the attack, with figures of 8-4-13-4.

Fixtures and Results week-ending 9th August

On Saturday, the 1st XI won a close game against Appleton Cricket Club. Akhil Shah’s 5-29 was the standout performance. The 2nd XI chalked up their first win of the season v Stockport Cricket Club Official thanks to 4-18 from junior quick Jamie Herbert and Andy Fryer’s 42.

On Sunday, the Ladies XI beat Leigh Cricket Club, thanks to Jenny Dunn’s 71 and good contributions from all the bowlers.

The 3rd XI lost at home to a young, talented Bowdon Cricket Club academy side.

In junior cricket, the U15 side won on Wednesday against Heaton Mersey, by a comfortable 6 wickets.

Fixtures and Results week-ending 2 August

The 2nd weekend of cricket felt as though the season has finally got underway. Local derby games were by the 1s and the women’s teams, whilst the 2s travelled to Timperley and the 3s visited Elworth.

On Friday, the ladies recorded a fine win against Stockport Georgians CC in their T20. Trinity scored 106 off their 20 overs and managed to hold Georgians to 97/6 to gain maximum points.

Saturday’s games saw another win for the 1s in their first home game of the year against local rivals Cheadle Hulme CC. Wickets were shared amongst our bowlers as Cheadle Hulme were dismissed for just 89 in 34 overs. Trinity duly knocked off the runs in the 28th over for the loss of 7 wickets.

The 2s found their total of 155/7 too short against Timperley, who managed to gain the win in 31st overs with 6 wickets down.

On Sunday, the 3s scored an impressive 164 for 8, with excellent contributions throughout the team. Trinity went on to win by 60 runs. Wickets were shared, but an excellent performance from A Rixon with 44 runs and bowling figures of 0.4-0-3-1 stole the show.

In junior cricket, the under-15s were unlucky to be beaten by Didsbury CC scoring 58 in 17 overs. Didsbury won in the 14th over with 6 wickets down.

Fixtures and Results week-ending 26 July

After 12 weeks of waiting followed by a wash-out last week it was great to finally get back to cricket!

The 1s had a win away at Heaton Mersey – with Adam Hugill getting the season’s first 50 on the board. The 2s found themselves a little rusty and were beaten at home by Ashley.

On Sunday the ladies beat Ashton on Mersey at home – with runs for Ellie Mason and Carys White seeing them set an insurmountable total and finish up winners by 114 runs. The 3s lost out to Lindow in their T20 game – but Matt Royle managed to get some wickets on the board in the process.

It was a quiet week for the juniors – with the under-11s and under-13s missing out due to the weather and clubs being unable to field a team respectively. The under-15s were narrowly beaten in the local derby at Cheadle Hulme and the under-9s won narrowly at Heaton Mersey.
